How do I root my LG V10?

I found some guides (like here and here) for rooting the LG V10. Both of the guides are basically the same, at least up to the point where I'm stuck.
It tells me to enable OEM unlock in the developer options. I can't find that option in the list. I learned through Googling that it's not in all versions of Android and if it's not there I don't need to worry about it.
Then it tells me to do adb reboot bootloader. But instead of booting into the bootloader, it just reboots normally.
What am I doing wrong?
EDIT: I ended up returning it and getting a Galaxy S6 Edge, since it*had been less than 14 days. The guy at Best Buy actually brought out about nine of them from the back so I could look at the software version printed on the sticker and find one I could root.
Thanks anyway! :)

Moto X wifi doesnt turn on, how to reinstall supersu?

I followed this systemless root tutorial, and now face the problem that has been resolved in this reddit thread. However, I don't know how to install supersu 2.62, and don't think I have TWRP. I tried uninstalling supersu 2.56 and running
adb install Superuser_v2.62.apk adb reboot bootloader
but the problem persisted. How can I fix this?

Rooting the Mi Box (MDZ-16-AB)

This is basically a megathread of any bits I can find on rooting the device, most of this comes from an XDA thread but I'll keep updating as and when.
I'm not going to teach you how to use adb, so this guide simply assumes you are already able. If you're not I wouldn't recommend this as at all.
Also of yet, I haven't managed to get SuperSU working so your favorite root apps WILL NOT WORK. I simply used this to change some files so my wireless 360 pad would work properly, if I get SuperSU working I will update this post.
  1. Download this firmware file, I'm not sure why this needs to be done but it does. Unzip it and copy the contents to a FAT32 formatted drive.
  2. Enable developer mode. This can be done in your settings on the Mi Box, find "About" and then click on "build" 7 times to enable the developer menu. It will confirm you've done this with an on-screen toast.
  3. Enable adb. This can be done by going back into settings and clicking the newly-created "Developer options" and then enabling "USB Debugging".
  4. Grab (or make) a USB MALE TO MALE cable to hook up the Mi Box usb to your computer.
  5. Run adb devices on your computer to confirm it's all good, it should be listed. If not, wait for the Mi Box to display a dialogue confirming you want to allow adb on this computer this can take a couple of moments so don't cry yet.
  6. Once adb is sorted you need to run "adb reboot recovery" which will bring you to the recovery screen.
  7. Unhook the cable and plug in your usb, click INSTALL FROM EXT then FROM UDISK and select the zip file then just let the update do it's thing. It will take a while so go and pop the kettle on.
  8. It's done! Reboot and let's get started.
  9. Once we're back, see if the box is still under adb devices. If not, you know what to do.
  10. Run "adb root" then "adb disable-verity" and then "adb reboot".
  11. Once it comes back on, YOU ARE ROOTED! Run Adb root and then adb remount to start making edits. (thanks evilp0tat0 for clarification!)
Bonus: SuperSU is now go, but just be really careful. Bad things could happen! (thanks evilp0tat0)
TLDR; Adb > Cable > Update > Run some commands > ??? > Profit
Most of this is taken from here but it's pretty brief and messy... If I get SuperSU working I will post back here. If anybody knows how to manually push su to 6.0.1 via adb then please help!

How I made a 2012 Nexus7 usable

edit: 3 months and still working like day one!
I researched a bit, and did the following to my wife's 32gb 3G Nexus 7 (Tilapia). All links and software can be used with non 3G versions (Grouper). Only software needed on my computer was Minimal ADB and Fastboot, for the first step.
It works perfectly, like a new device, even with very heavy apps like Facebook and Messenger. I had no problems at all even with the 1GB of RAM. How performance degrades over time remains to be seen, but for now it works perfectly.

My phone is stuck in a Bootloop PLEASE HELP

So I tried to root my phone with the WinDroid Toolkit and after I installed TWRP and SuperSu my phone got stuck in the bootloop. I sideloaded a new version of SuperSu onto my phone then it was still doing the same thing so then I tried to sideload another version but it didn't go so then I went into the file manager and deleted everything inside the supersu folder then I tried to sideload again and it still wouldn't send it over then I tried sending over another zip file and it worked then I tried Su again and it didn't work so then I went searching online and I found Su systemless root and people said it worked so then I downloaded it and tried to send it over and it worked so then I boot up my phone and it's still stuck at the screen with the blue motorola logo sticker and it says android at the bottom. I also before doing the systemless root wiped the data cache and dalvik and nothing happened after that. I'm not sure what to do next. Also there's still nothing in the SuperSu folder even though I sideloaded a new one over. Thanks!
I'm using
Moto X Pure Edition XT1575
Android 6.0
TWRP version 3.0.0-0
(idk which version i'm still on) SuperSu (the version that WinDroid installed), SuperSu 2.56, SuperSu 2.74, SuperSu Beta systemless 2.67
Also idk if this matters but I have an sd card inside my phone.

Moto X Pure/Style - Flashing back to stock question

I hope everyone is doing well. A special thanks for everyone at Android and MotoX. They have been a great resource for learning!
I recently purchased a 2015 Moto X Pure/Style and decided to tinker with it. I unlocked the bootloader and was attempting the system less root method. I used adb to install SuperSU 2.56. (that was the version i found at the time) However, I noticed it affected the system level.
After that, I installed the TruPureXMM 2.3.3 Rom off of XDA. The reason i like this ROM was that it removes the bootloader warning and provided systemless root (v2.65). However, I still have the bootloader warning and SuperSU appears to be at system level. (Android Pay will not work) I have tried a full wipe with TWRP. Unfortunately that did not seem to work.
I am trying to find stock files and clear the SuperSU at the system level. Any links or ideas on how to proceed? I have a fully working Moto X Pure/Style so it not a life or death matter. I would just like to learn how to get these tweaks corrected.
Thank you in advance for any information you can provide!

[Workaround] Running JP Pad on Rooted Phone

[Disclaimer about you doing this at your own risk]
All credits go to puzzdora5404 of PF for finding this/writing the script included (I think?).
Tested on Android 4.4.2 stock with SuperSU.
Install SuperSU if you don't have it and are using CM root or another.
Extract the zip
Copy setpropex from the tools folder and replace the one in system\xbin\setpropex
With SuperSU enabled, connect your phone to your PC and run run.bat
Disable SuperSU
Zip file: http://www.filedropper.com/fakeprop
Now you should be able to boot up JP P&D without it crashing. It feels great finally getting to do collabs (Didn't get the Tien/Vegeta I wanted from my saved up stones ): ) and have access to the 31 collab.
You have to rerun the script whenever you restart your phone.
For those that have been playing on padHT, you can copy your files data48/56 over to the JP client.

S2 GT-i9100 Google Play Services randomly causes *unimaginable* battery drain

Hello Everyone
Start off by saying I have little to no Android knowledge (rooting, custom ROMs, modding or programs for such things), however I have basic knowledge of linux and the command line.
My S2 GT-i9100 rapidly heats up and its battery is unimaginably and randomly depleted by Google Play Services and quickly renders it useless as a device. I want to fix it and not turn it into a brick.
I got the phone from a family member from Europe (I live in Australia), who had used it for about 6 months. When I got it, it was already unlocked and rooted by some phone place over there. I didn't have any problems.
Recently however Google Play Services (size 127 MB) (version 9.2.56) has randomly started doing something, this despite no mobile broadband and almost no internet usage from wifi either to invoke it. Considering it is on ICS (no idea how to upgrade, or whether i should upgrade, or what to upgrade to) it has to be either a bug or a virus considering all those Android exploits in the news recently.
To fix it whenever it occurs, I clear the RAM twice then go into the list of Applications and Force Stop Google Play Services (more than once if the button isn't greyed out).
I tried to disable the components of Google Play Services(listed below) but the problem continued AND it erased the names of my contacts meaning I was left with a bunch of numbers with no name. Google Bookmarks Sync Google Play services Google Services Framework Google Account Manager Network Location Google Contacts Sync
Some details: Wi-Fi use only (and nonexistent nowadays), no mobile broadband GT-i9100 running Android 4.0.3 (ICS) ROM, unknown if original / custom, has a T-Mobile animation screen on bootup and shutdown It also has a yellow triangle at the bottom when I turn it on (don't care about cosmetics) Rooted with CWW (no idea about how that works or what it means) and SuperSU (i do know how root user works in linux) Root Browser + Terminal Emulator installed (my doing) Google Authenticator + Microsoft Account Authenticator (i don't wanna screw up anything with these, got codes for google authenticator, need to research microsoft) Call history and text messages (I would like to keep these and would like to know how to backup the phone first of all)
So I'm looking to figure out what would be the best course of action to fix this without screwing up anything. I know the standard solution would be a factory reset but I don't have any backups (also don't know how to), don't want to brick the phone and don't know what it would actually do, and even if it worked, how to root the phone again.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

[Other] For those who play on rooted Nexus devices running Marshmallow, you can play without hiding root now.

DISCLAIMER: I hold no responsibility for anything bad that may happen to your device, so make sure you do proper backups and other necessary measures that you would do when modifying your device.
Those of you in the knowhow of rooting, you may be familiar with Chainfire and SuperSU. You may have also heard that he's recently developed a new rooting method on Marshmallow known as systemless root. I've applied the new method on my device (Nexus 5X) and found that I no longer needed to use my root hiding app before launching SIF. It seems like the new method completely bypasses whatever root checking method is built into SIF.
Note that the new method is experimental and you may encounter bugs (I personally haven't yet). The method only applies to the following devices running Marshmallow:
You can find more information about this method here. It is a simple process. First, make sure you unroot so you don't have interfering root instances. Then flash stock /system, flash the modified boot image according to your device, and install SuperSU 2.56 via TWRP. The modified boot images in the link are for older versions of Marshmallow so if you're running a newer version, you're gonna have to search your respective device's forum for the newer modified boot images.

SuperSU v2.56 unavailable?

Hi,
I'm rooting my Nexus 5X, following this tutorial. It says to install SuperSU v2.56 but when I follow the link it's unavailable. When I googled where to find it, I didn't find anything solid - just a few links to APK files, which would require root, things like that. So I'm wondering, where can I find this version of SuperSU? Is that specific version required for the rooting process to work correctly, or can I download a different version and have it work the same way?
Thanks!
EDIT: I've found v2.60, will this be okay instead of 2.56?

[Help] Battery charging stops and restarts every few minutes.

Is charging horribly broken in marshmallow? Whenever I plug my phones in for charging, charging keeps stopping and restarting every few minutes. Look at the screenshot.
Status: Charging
Plugged: On battery
What..!! Is it charging or is it on battery??
I tried process of elimination to pin point the cause.
  1. This happens when the phone is plugged into my laptop. Same thing happens when it is plugged into wall charger.
  2. Tried 2 different cables.
  3. Happens at my home, as well as my workplace.
  4. Happens on both my Nexus 5, as well as Nexus 6P.
fwiw, my N6P rebooted a bunch of times and then when rebooting every minute stopped, I see both my Google accounts are wiped from the phone...! I added them back and now it is recharging fine. On the N5 though, the accounts are not deleted and the charging/not charging cycle continues.

Nexus 6P, Stock Android 6.0, Elemental X Kernel, Systemless SuperSu v2.56, Xposed.

[Help/Bug] After turning the screen off, WiFi disconnects within 5 minutes. Reconnects when I turn screen on.

Nexus 6P, Stock Android 6.0, TWRP 2.8.7.2, SuperSu v2.56
I have "Keep wifi awake during sleep = always". And I'm not using aggressive doze in either Greenify or NapTime.
Anyone faced this / solved this?
